Hope

Isn't it awesome when you get to inherit furniture?
Seriously isn't it so great to add to your collection of mismatched pieces?
It is so twenty-something to have that unconformed look with the mismatching plates, the two lounge chairs and who can forget that awesome couch.
The couch is always key when setting up a new place, since you have such sparse furniture, your couch is the one thing that probably says something about your personality. Whether you picked it up from a garage sale, it's brand new, or you actually did inherit it from a relative people's couches always say something about them. There are those that actually luck out and get a couch that is a normal color, then you can display it proudly and when you're friends ask where you got it, you can tell them how you're just a lucky person. However, if you get one of those unfortunate worn out looking couches and you have to put a cover on it, you will explain, I am not so lucky and I am trying to cover up the misfortune in my life, but hey good news is you my friend are not cheap. And finally there are those with the unfortunate couch, who actually have the nerve to put a sheet on it, this says, hey I'm unfortunate, I have no money, and I am lazy, I have no life so I am trying to cover up for it.
Creating a false sense around you, so that as you sit on this couch and the sheet slowly slips down showing the couches true colors, you find yourself already sucked in, already a part of this complete and total unfortunate episode of furniture. Soon realizing that you must remove yourself from this debauchery of a couch you must leave as soon as possible, because if you spend one more second on this horrid beast the ugliness of the faded material underneath will surely seep into your soul, blackening your heart forever. Oh, but then you realize that you do not have a blackened heart that you do in fact have hope for this poor little couch, and it's owner. You actually foolishly believe that it can be salvaged that maybe if you tucked the sheet in a little bit better, then it would stay, or if you sat on it a little bit nicer then it wouldn't show its ugly side so often. And that even though you sit there smacked with the reality of the situation you are in, you still hold out hope and eventually you will have to decide. Should you just walk away and leave the couch as is, or should you stick it out and see if it was worth holding onto hope.
